Outstanding Young Scientist Awards (OYSA)
The purpose of the OYSA is to encourage beginning scientists (including postdocs and students) to conduct research in ocean modeling and data analyses. Papers are solicited under four themes: (1) process modeling, (2) data assimilation, (3) model and observational data analyses and (4) numerical schemes and algorithms. Preferences will be given to papers that use and/or advance POM especially on themes "2" and "4."
Please REGISTER by November 15, 2008, and SUBMIT Abstract by December 1, 2008. Indicate "OSYA" and Theme in top line of the ABSTRACT before the title. For example:

Additionally, please email the full paper (with a revised Abstract if necessary) under any one of the above four themes by 22:00GMT, 19th of December 2008. The paper should be in English, concisely written and should adhere to the format of Geophysical Research Letter (http://www.agu.org/journals/gl/ - maximum 3800 words and 4 figures). The paper may be co-authored but the lead author must be the young scientist who will contribute most to the research. Your paper will be judged for its clarity and advancement of new insights or methodologies in the chosen theme, and the lead author will also be required to give an oral presentation at the workshop. The winners (lead authors) will be awarded and recognized at the Workshop.
